Webinar: Reservoir Simulation for CO2 storage studies

The SPE YP London is pleased to announce a webinar on ‘Reservoir Simulation for CO2 storage studies’, via Microsoft Teams.

The session presents an exciting opportunity to become familiar with the concepts of reservoir simulation for CO2 storage studies.

Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS) technologies can play a key role in reducing CO2 in the atmosphere, but selection, development and operation of a storage site present many challenges. How much CO2 can be stored? What injection rates are possible? What are the risks of leakage?

Schlumberger experts have been technology leaders in CCUS for many years. Reservoir engineering studies are essential for understanding the complexities and uncertainties of subsurface dynamic behaviour. This presentation focuses on Schlumberger’s reservoir simulation features and workflows for CO2storage.

Presenter: Marie Ann Giddins is a Schlumberger Advisor in Reservoir Engineering, based in Abingdon Technology Center, UK, where she provides technical advice on reservoir simulation software, workflows and integrated studies. Her areas of expertise include advanced reservoir engineering applications, such as Enhanced Oil Recovery, gridding and upscaling, uncertainty and optimization. Marie Ann’s experience ranges from simulating laboratory EOR experiments for a core 5cm long, to optimizing simulator performance for studies of the biggest oil fields in the Middle East. She is a mentor and coach for trainees and experienced engineers at all stages of professional development and has supervised over 80 student intern projects.

Who should attend: Young Professionals working in reservoir and production engineering fields as well as researchers, auditors, reserves estimators, and students interested in learning more about CO2 storage studies and reservoir simulation modelling of these processes
