SPE YP London Committee invites you to a day at Stratum Reservoir Laboratories in East Grinstead.

Join us for this excellent opportunity to gain insight into the different ways, core samples from various reservoirs in the Oil and gas industry are analysed, and understand the core analysis data that acts as one of the main precursor, in a reservoir development and planning study. Stratum Reservoir labs pride themselves on accurate lab measurements that enable oil and gas companies to make informed decisions.

This lab tour for Conventional Core Analysis and SCAL is aimed at young professional engineers, researchers, geoscientists and students interested in learning more about specific laboratory practices.

Classroom session.

Interactive presentation Conventional or Initial Core Analysis

12:30-13:00 Short break tea/coffee

Split into two groups for tour of the labs.

13:00-13:30 GROUP A

Conventional Core Analysis Lab Tour

Core handling.

Gamma measurements.

Plugging.

Slabbing.

Core photography.

Sample cleaning and Dean Stark measurements.

Sample drying (routine / humidity drying)

Determination of routine permeability, porosity and grain density.

13:00-13:30 GROUP B

SCAL Lab Tour

Archie Parameters: Formation Factor, Rw measurements.

Capillary Pressure/Resistivity Index.

Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR)

13:30-14:00 GROUP B

We are not responsible for your travel arrangements. Attendees must make their own way to the venue. We suggest meeting at 08:45 am at East Grinstead train station to share taxis to the lab.
