London Net Zero webinar – online

Carbon Capture & Storage: Evaluation and Development of Storage Sites

The London SPE Net Zero Gaia Committee is delighted to bring you the next in our Net Zero webinar series, two perspectives on the evaluation and development of CO2 Storage sties, drawing on UKCS project experience.

We are joined by Andrew Moore, Principal Engineer in CCS at Sproule-ERCE. Andy is a Principal Engineer in CCS at Sproule-ERCE, recently formed through a strategic merger between two industry-leading companies. He is involved in the subsurface evaluation and project management of a wide range of global CCS projects. These include independent due diligence for debt financing for multiple large-scale CCS projects in Europe, multiple competent persons reports (CPR) to SPE SRMS globally, Carbon Storage risk assessments, and independent technical evaluations of potential storage sites.

Prior to this he was working for the North Sea Transition Authority (NSTA) Carbon Transport and Storage Team where he was working on the technical and regulatory Stewardship of active UK carbon storage licences. He is a Reservoir Engineer by background with experience as a Subsurface Team Lead and has 15+ years’ experience working for operators, service companies, and regulators globally.

Our second speaker, Liam O’Flynn, is a Senior Geoscientist at OPC, specialising in subsurface characterisation and geomodelling. With over six years of experience across operating, consultancy, and research roles, Liam has delivered technical input on projects internationally. He has played a key role in the development of a UKCS carbon capture and storage (CCS) project, contributing from initial screening through to delivery planning. His expertise includes seismic interpretation, petrophysical analysis, static modelling, and gross depositional environment mapping—critical elements in evaluating and de-risking CCS sites. Liam combines strong technical capability with a commercial mindset, making him a valuable contributor to the growing field of carbon storage and energy transition.

Talk 1: How to evaluate Risk and Uncertainty in a Storage Site for Financiers

Talk 2: Subsurface through the CCS lens: Is it really that different to conventional exploration?
