SPE YP Visit To Schlumberger Abingdon Technology Centre

SPE YP London Committee is pleased to announce the SPE YP visit to Schlumberger Abingdon Technology Center in collaboration with Schlumberger on Friday, 27th April 2018 at Milton Park in Abingdon, United Kingdom (Please refer to map for exact location).

The event will provide an invaluable opportunity to gain professional insight into the world of Reservoir Engineering and Simulation, including showcasing the advanced simulation workflows and simulator packages, with emphasis on Digital technology.

Abingdon Technology Center (AbTC) is the Schlumberger Center of Excellence for Reservoir Engineering. It develops software that enables oil and gas companies to make better decisions for reservoir development (e.g. – ECLIPSE, INTERSECT, Petrel). Simulation helps quantify reserves and distribution within the formation rocks and to predict changes over the life of the reservoir. Production decisions involve where and how to drill and operate wells and how to most safely and efficiently bring oil and gas to the surface. Related projects include CO2 capture-and-storage technology, water management, and reservoir geomechanics. Schlumberger AbTC’s global reach helps customers analyse problems encountered in the field, identify solutions, and improve future operations. This event gives you, as a Young professional in the industry, the chance to see for yourself, the advances in Reservoir engineering and simulation, and the Digital Technology drive in the oil industry.

The event will kick off with a reception from Schlumberger AbTC. This will be followed by a series of presentations showcasing the advancements in Reservoir engineering and simulation, and case studies. Following the presentations, there will be a hands-on workshop for participants to use and explore the new functionalities in SLB reservoir simulation applications and tools.

Technical experts will be available throughout the day, to share their experience and answer the queries from all the participants. This event has been one of the most popular events in the SPE-YP calendar for several years – so sign up soon to avoid disappointment! Students are encouraged to attend along with YP’s.
